2. Protect your account

• Never share your sign-in code — not with a match, not with someone claiming to be Old Enough staff. We will never ask for it.
• Keep your email account secure, because it is how you sign in.
• Log out on shared devices.

3. Be careful about money

Romance and dating scams often follow the same pattern. Be suspicious if someone:

• asks for money, mobile money, gift cards, crypto or your bank details — for any reason, however urgent it sounds;
• offers an investment or a way to make money;
• quickly professes strong feelings, or always has a reason they can't meet or video call;
• asks you to move to another app straight away.

Don't send money to people you have met on Old Enough. Report scam attempts with Scam.

4. Think before you share

• Keep your anonymous identity anonymous: avoid sharing your full name, address, workplace or phone number until you trust someone.
• Messages are deleted 24 hours after they are read and view-once photos after they are opened — but the other person can still take a screenshot or a photo of their screen. Only send what you would be comfortable with someone keeping.
• You never have to send photos or intimate content, and you can stop a conversation at any time.

5. Meeting in person

Old Enough does not run background or identity checks, and a verified badge is not a guarantee. If you decide to meet:

• meet in a busy public place, and arrange your own transport there and back;
• tell a friend who you are meeting, where and when, and check in with them;
• keep your phone charged and stay in control of your drink and belongings;
• trust your instincts — you can leave at any time, for any reason;
• agree on consent clearly, and respect a change of mind.

6. Block, mute and report

• Block anyone who makes you uncomfortable. They can't contact you and you won't see each other.
• Mute to hide someone's Stories without blocking.
• Report from the menu on a profile, Story, comment or message. Reports go to Old Enough's safety team, and the person is not told who reported them.

7. Please always report

• Underage concern — anyone who seems to be under 18.
• Threat — threats of violence or to expose you.
• Scam — requests for money or financial details.
• Non-consensual content — intimate images shared or threatened without consent, or sextortion. You can also use our intimate-image takedown process.
• Harassment, Unwanted contact, Impersonation and Spam.

8. Keeping evidence

When you report a message, Old Enough keeps a copy of that one message for our safety team for 7 days — so report as soon as you can, before the original disappears.

If you may go to the police, it can help to keep your own record too: screenshots showing the anonymous name, the date and what was said. Never forward or share intimate images of someone else, even as evidence — describe them in your report instead.

9. What Old Enough can and can't do

We review reports, remove content and ban accounts that break our Community Guidelines. But we can't check everyone's identity, see everything that happens, or control what people do off Old Enough, so we can't prevent every harmful interaction. Your own judgement, and these tools, are an important part of staying safe.
